I was explaining to someone lately that there are as many brands of submission as there are kinds of people.  Some people love the dynamic of being submissive, of having someone else tell them what to do.  Some people are masochists to one extent or another and love pain.  Some people are mild masochists, some are severe.  When you are a masochist, it can be difficult to find someone who will take you to the place you want to go safely.

Some people have fetishes.  Foot fetishes are common, as are shoe fetishes and boot fetishes.  Some have leather fetishes.  Some have fetishes for a specific kind of fabric or material, like a satin fetish or a silk fetish, a latex fetish or a rubber fetish.  They love the feel and look of the fabric, sometimes the smell.

Some people love bondage, they love being restrained.  Sometimes it’s a specific kind of bondage – rope bondage, or leather restraints, a hog-tie or a spread eagle position.  Other times it’s just the sensation of being helpless, of not being able to move, of being able to struggle without being released.

Some people like role-playing.  They want to pretend to be something or someone they are not, or play out a scenario they like.  Sometimes it might be playing a specific kind of scene, like a school scene or a medical scene.  In some ways, it’s all about role-playing, but sometimes it’s more overt than others.

Sometimes the role-playing is more animal-based, like pony or puppy play.  There’s something very freeing about becoming an animal, without responsibilities or worries, an animal who is catered to and cared for.  Sometimes the gear is a big part of the fun.  Having harnesses and pony tales, having dog toys and a crate, all of that can be part of the fun.

Some people are into spanking or being spanked.  They love everything about spanking, and that might include other things, but it also might not.  They might also like bondage, or role playing, or they might just like spanking.

Some people like age play.  They like pretending to be a child again, or even an infant.  They might like to color, or play with stuffed toys, to be taken care of in the way a child is often taken care of.  They might like some of the trappings of childhood, the toys and clothes, or they might like the dynamic of a kind parent who looks out for their child.   To be very clear, these are adults who like to pretend to be younger than they are, or to interact with others that like to pretend to be younger.

Some people might like any number of those things, or different things at different times or with different people.  We all have a multitude of sides and interests and we all have different needs.  The first step to having those needs met, though, is being able to say what they are.

It’s been some time since I posted, I suppose I’ve been too busy with sessions to have time, and that’s not all bad, either.  It’s cold now, wintry out there, and we’re in that part of the year when the holidays are a distant memory and spring is still just a promise a few months out.

I have done some fun sessions lately, some role-playing with a submissive friend of mine, some enjoyable CBT, a cross-dresser or two.  It’s amazing the variety of interests submissives have, isn’t it?

I find, too, that people seem to, as the New Year rolls in, be interested in exploring their fantasies.  I think that, as the calendar turns another year, it’s more likely that they see that those years aren’t unlimited.  They see the minutes of their lives ticking away, and don’t want so many more to tick away while they wonder about the things they’ve always fantasized about, the things they don’t want to miss experiencing.

And, of course, that’s where I come in.
